Este estudo analisa como as startups implementam modelos de negócios circulares apoiados na inovação e Indústria 4.0, em que os stakeholders estratégicos para a criação de valor estão neste ecossistema de negócios específico. O referencial teórico dos modelos de negócios circulares suportados pela inovação foi utilizado para analisar as startups com base em alguns pressupostos de teoria das partes interessadas. Foram selecionadas 51 startups, que correspondem à unidade de análise para este estudo sobre a melhoria das cadeias de suprimentos por meio de modelos de negócios circulares apoiados na inovação voltada para a sustentabilidade nas organizações. Nós realizamos um múltiplo estudo de caso cujos resultados sugerem que: (i) a circularidade é estratégica para o negócio assumir seu compromisso com uma agenda de desenvolvimento sustentável, especialmente no que diz respeito à prevenção da poluição e ação proativa; (ii) empreendedores visionários estão ativamente engajados com circular práticas de economia e inovação tecnológica para promover um fluxo circular para seus negócios ecossistema; (iii) A Indústria 4.0 ainda é incipiente, mas é sinérgica e benéfica para uma economia circular de sucesso em startups; e (iv) as principais partes interessadas são os ativadores de ciclos circulares nas startups pesquisadas. O presente estudo contribui para a literatura de quatro maneiras: (i) apresentando uma estrutura que reúne teorias exploratórias proposições sobre stakeholders estratégicos para startups, capacidades inovadoras e suposições de modelos de negócios circulares; (ii) validar proposições teóricas exploratórias com 51 startups; (iii) fornecer lições aprendidas até agora pelas startups que estejam alinhadas com os pressupostos de modelos de negócios circulares para desencadear suas capacidades de inovação e promoção da Indústria 4.0; (iv) fornecer uma tipologia original dos pressupostos da economia circular e inovações tecnológicas adotadas por startups. A originalidade deste estudo reside em apresentar insights úteis para motivar gestores a: (i) investir em negócios circulares para que tornem-se um dos primeiros participantes e ganhe lucros extras; (ii) fazer investimentos em inovações circulares empresariais e tecnológicas para obter eficiência, praticidade e otimização de processos; (iii) internalizar tecnologias da Indústria 4.0 concomitantemente com inovações tecnológicas e economia circular para gerar efeitos sistêmicos; (iv) integrar as partes interessadas relevantes do negócio
